ANZIIG sets its sights on Quality Hotel Ambassador amidst NZ tourism boom
Choice Hotels Asia-Pac, one of New Zealand’s largest hotel franchise groups, has initiated a franchise agreement with Australia and NZ International Investment Group Pty Ltd (ANZIIG), who recently made the purchase of one of Hamilton’s well-known hotels, Quality Hotel Ambassador.
Located in the heart of Hamilton city amidst shopping and entertainment, Quality Hotel Ambassador is only a 20 minute drive from Hamilton Airport and a short walk to Waikato Stadium, Claudelands Event Centre and Seddon Park Cricket Grounds.
The ultimate location for the corporate or leisure traveller, through to large sporting or tour groups, the hotel has ample off-street car parking and on-site conference facilities, a pool, private courtyard, café, and bar and grill.
ANZIIG representative, Yesh Mudaliar, says Quality Hotel Ambassador presented a fantastic opportunity to further develop the company’s hotel portfolio and development within Australia and New Zealand.
“We look forward to working with Choice Hotels Asia-Pac in further repositioning the hotel within the Hamilton market as one of the preferred accommodation options for travellers,” said Mr Mudaliar. “We’re also very aware that Hamilton’s location and close proximity to Auckland and easy access to Mount Maunganui, Raglan, Taupo and the Coromandel, offer uncapped potential for year round tourism.”
Government visitor expenditure figures reveal that the Hamilton and Waikato region drew more than $1.2 billion in visitor expenditure for the year ended March 2015 - an $81 million (or seven per cent) increase on the previous year.
With domestic and international tourism booming in New Zealand, Choice Hotels Asia-Pac CEO Trent Fraser says he is excited to have ANZIIG on board to capitalise on the demand in the country.
“We’re seeing an increasing number of overseas investors snapping up opportunities in the New Zealand market, with Tourism Industry Aotearoa’s latest figures highlighting New Zealand tourism is a whopping $81.6 million per day industry,” said Mr Fraser.
