Succession planning reflects Cosgroves growth

Succession planning reflects Cosgroves growth

Cosgroves’ engineering and consulting business has grown significantly over the past six years. Following more recent demand for their services beyond Christchurch they have expanded their operations into both Auckland and Queenstown. These new regions now generate well over forty percent of Cosgroves revenue which has led to a reorganisation of both the Board and management structure. Starting at the beginning of April they will welcome Simon Taylor into the business in the new role of National Manager and he will also join the Board of Directors for Cosgroves Group Ltd.

For the past twelve years Simon has been a Technical Director and has led a buildings engineering team with Aurecon, based in Christchurch. He will bring 25 years’ experience as a mechanical building services engineer and a considerable track record of project and team leadership to Cosgroves and will play a hands-on role as they grow to meet the needs of their clients across the country.

Brady Cosgrove, Chair and Fire Group Manager, said the appointment of a National Manager represented the next step forward for the firm he founded over twenty years ago.

“It reflects how far we’ve come and is important for both our national operations and for positioning us for the future. Simon is widely experienced and ideally suited to the role.

We see great opportunity for future growth and have developed the structure and systems to allow this to occur seamlessly. Our services are being recognised across a wide range of sectors and across the country and we are committed to delivering at the highest standard possible.”

Other changes to the board structure see Angus Macdonald, currently an Associate and the Southern Regional Manager, stepping into the Director role formerly held by Peter Barnett, who has transitioned into the role of Technical Principal for the company. Peter has been with the company for fifteen years and has been a large part of its success. He is keen to provide his extensive project experience to the complex projects that are now the norm for the company.

“We’re really happy with these changes which we see as a progressive move for the company, and a great opportunity for the continued evolution of the business.”

Over recent years Cosgroves has been involved in many exciting major projects including the development of the Hagley Oval Pavilion in Christchurch, The new Research, Science and Innovation Centre (RSIC) for Canterbury University, Remarkables Ski Field Base Building & Eichardt’s in Queenstown, the new PWC Centre office building in the centre of Christchurch CBD and The Depot in Tauranga.
