The NZ Current Account Balance for Q4 2016 has just been released.

The Current Account Deficit was marginally better than expected (smaller deficit):

Current Account Balance Q4 $2.34 bio Deficit (Consensus $2.5 bio Deficit)

Current Account Balance (seasonally adjusted) $1.6 bio Deficit
Year to June 2016 Current Account Balance $7.11 bio Deficit
Current Account Deficit as % of GDP 2.7% (Consensus 2.8%)

Revisions to prior quarters were marginally worse than initially reported.

The NZD is little changed in immediate response.

Tomorrow is a big data day with the US Fed widely expected to raise the (Fed Funds) interest rate by 0.25%, followed by NZ GDP (Q4) and Australian employment figures. We will see some market volatility!
