Compact dairy farm with high output goes on the market for sale
A highly productive compact 210 hectare dairy farm in the Central North Island has been placed on the market for sale.
The farm at Galatea south-east of Rotorua is currently milking 400 cows – producing a three-year average of 142,500
kilograms of milk solids. The milking shed is centrally located and feeds out to 110 paddocks accessed by a
well-maintained race system.
The property at 436 Haumea Road is being jointly marketed for sale by Bayleys Hamilton and Bayleys Rotorua through a
tender campaign closing on February 23. The marketing campaign is being managed by Scott Macdonald, Mike Fraser-Jones
and Ben Hickson.
The flat-contoured farm contains three residential dwellings – a 240 square metre four-year-old four-bedroom homestead
with double glazing, a log fire, and a heat pump; a three-bedroom manager’s home with its own two-bedroom sleepout; and
a separate three-bedroom home.
The farm’s working infrastructure includes:
· A 40-aside herringbone milking shed
· A five bay implement shed (two bays with concrete floor and locakable roller doors)
· A floor four bay implement shed
· A three bay implement shed (with one lockable bay)
· Two six bay half round bars
· Three calf sheds
· Two pump sheds
· A covered fertiliser bin
and
· Two stock yards with loading races.
The main block in the property is watered by a deep well bore feeding to two 30,000 litre tanks Grundfos tanks, while
the smaller 57 hectare block is fed by a separate spring directly linking to troughs via a 40mm pipe.
Fonterra’s Farm Dairy & Environmental Assessment rating has classified the property with an A-grading for environmental practices. The farm also received A-grade
ratings for its hygiene of plant and equipment and animal health and welfare.
Mr Macdonald said some 40 hectares of the farm was cropped in various portions of lucerne, kale, and oats. Paddocks were
separated by electric fencing in both eight and four wire configurations.
