MEDIA RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
20 December 2016

OMSA MEMBERS JOIN THE NEW ZEALAND PRESS COUNCIL

The members of the Online Media Standards Authority (“OMSA”) are pleased to announce that all online publications over which they have editorial control will now be under the jurisdiction of The New Zealand Press Council. This change is effective 1 January 2017.

This agreement ensures that the public will continue to have a free, independent and efficient forum for resolving complaints against any online media content published by TVNZ, Radio New Zealand, SKY/Prime, MediaWorks, Maori Television or NZME Radio.

The members of OMSA would like to publicly acknowledge the Hon Sir Bruce Robertson, the Hon Dame Judith Potter and all the members of OMSA’s Complaints and Appeals Committees for their commitment to promoting the highest professional standards and safeguarding media independence in New Zealand.
