Bell Gully awarded the Rainbow Tick
Leading law firm Bell Gully has been awarded the Rainbow Tick after demonstrating its strong commitment to ensuring inclusion and support of the LGBT community.
“We are very proud to have achieved the Rainbow Tick, which represents our support for our staff and partners who identify as LGBT,” said Bell Gully Chair Chris Gordon. “We are delighted by the recognition the Rainbow Tick brings and are committed to ensuring we continue to develop Bell Gully’s culture to support our people and allow us all to be our authentic selves.”
Michael Stevens from the Rainbow Tick team worked with Bell Gully’s LGBT committee and HR teams to review current policies, procedures and training, and to guide the firm on how to further advance support of its LGBT staff.
David Friar, partner and head of the firm’s LGBT group, said the sessions Michael ran with focus groups across the firm were invaluable. “They have shown that we are doing well in many areas and that there is an inclusive attitude and openness of our partners and staff to the LGBT community,” he said. David’s pro bono work in the LGBT community includes chairing the New Zealand AIDS Foundation Board.
Chris added: “We are delighted to join others who have been recognised with the Rainbow Tick, and we would encourage businesses of all shapes and sizes, and across all industries to get involved. We look forward to working with these organisations to continue to grow the acceptance, support and inclusion of all aspects of diversity in New Zealand workplaces.”
