Foodies helping foodies
Foodies helping foodies … that’s how the Otago Polytechnic Food Design Institute students see their latest charitable venture.
The students have raised funds throughout the year, including $950 at the recent end-of-year fEATure event for the Bachelor of Culinary Arts.
They’ve collectively decided to donate their earnings ($1277) to the Jenkins family that moved to Kaikoura following the Christchurch earthquakes … only to be hit with the recent quakes again.
The money will help Daniel and Sarah Jenkins keep their award-winning cheese business, Kaikoura Cheese, operating.
Chloe Humphreys, Otago Polytechnic Lecturer in Food Design, is pleased the students chose to support the Jenkins and their business.
“As with many in Kaikoura, this young family is facing hardship because of Mother Nature. I really hope this small gesture from Otago Polytechnic students can help them in some way.”
