Electrical Workers Registration Board joins the fight against cowboys
Having a stand-off over electrical work? Now there’s an easy way to report that cowboy.
The Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) is forming a united front with the Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers Board (PGDB) by adding electrical workers to the list of trades that can be reported through the Report-A-Cowboy App.
“The Report-A-Cowboy App was launched late last year and has since proven to be a successful way to start closing the gap on unauthorised workers, as well as potentially dangerous work,” says EWRB Presiding Chair Shane Dolan.
“We’ve now joined together with the PGDB to be part of the App, so those who have dealings with dodgy electrical workers can quickly and easily report the issue.”
The App allows users to remain completely anonymous when submitting photos and video evidence of illegal work sites, false advertising, and more. It also provides a direct link to the Boards’ investigations teams.
“The EWRB and PGDB are both committed to protecting property owners, keeping the public safe, and supporting legitimate tradespeople,” says Mr Dolan.
“This tool is one way we can start clamping down on poor workmanship that creates a bad name for the industry.”
The free App is available on the App Store or on Google Play. It can also be downloaded from the PGDB website: http://www.pgdb.co.nz/app
