MEDIA RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wednesday 30th November, 2016

MEDIAWORKS RADIO ANNOUNCES 2017 LINEUP CHANGES

MediaWorks has today announced a series of key talent moves across its radio brands to take effect from January 2017.

Leon Wratt, Group Content Director, Music said: “We have the best talent in the business and the changes we have announced today only strengthen our line-up. It's about taking our talent to where their audience sweet spot is, to grow and challenge them while enhancing our brands. So, in 2017, that's exactly what we are doing.”

JONO AND BEN TO JOIN SHARYN CASEY ON THE EDGE AFTERNOONS

Afternoons on New Zealand’s most listened to radio network The Edge will never be the same again, with current host Sharyn Casey welcoming Jono Pryor and Ben Boyce as co-hosts.

Ben Boyce said: "Jono has been at The Rock so long he didn't realise there were other radio stations."

Jono Pryor said: "We sailed a bouncy castle across lake Taupo, a banana boat across Cook Strait and sold our souls on cans of energy drinks at The Rock. I can't wait to see what shameless radio promotions lie ahead at The Edge with Sharyn."

Sharyn Casey said: "I'm looking forward to Jono and Ben ditching the Metallica t-shirts and letting their Taylor Swift flag fly high!"

"I'm really proud of what I've achieved with Guy & Clint but Jono and Ben might be able to get me a good deal on a Holden, so ya know, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do."

THANE KIRBY MOVES TO ROCK AFTERNOONS & ANDREW MULLIGAN RETURNS TO THE ROCK'S MORNING RUMBLE

After its exceptionally strong recent survey, gaining more listeners than any other network, The Rock sees Thane Kirby become its new drive time co-host, alongside Duncan Heyde - replacing Jono & Ben.

The Morning Rumble will welcome back Andrew Mulligan after three years, replacing Tom Furniss who is moving overseas.

Thane Kirby said: “This is the best decision The Rock has made in years. I'm trading in my vodka lime 'n sodas for bourbon and coke and making the leap beyond Ponsonby! I'm stoked to be part of an award winning radio station and will dedicate the remainder of my brain cells to hanging out on-air with like minded blokes across the country.”

Andrew Mulligan said: “It’s so great to be back among old friends and to be an integral part of The Morning Rumble. I’m pumped to be part of an award winning show again!”

CLINT ROBERTS TO JOIN GEORGE FM BREAKFAST

Current Edge Afternoons co-host Clint Roberts will join New Zealand’s most popular electronic music station George FM as part of a refreshed George FM Breakfast.

Clint Roberts said: "I've played my last T-Swift jam for a while, and I'm fizzed up to assemble New Zealand's newest breakfast show on George FM - home of the bangers!"
