Canterbury’s Mt Hutt voted top New Zealand ski resort again
Canterbury’s Mt Hutt has taken out the top New Zealand ski resort award at the fourth annual World Ski Awards.
Mt Hutt Ski Area Manager James McKenzie received the award at the event held last weekend (Saturday 19 November, 2016)
in Kitzbühel in Austria. It is the second time the skifield has won.
“It’s an absolute honour to receive this award on behalf of our awesome team at Mt Hutt,” says James.
“Second year running is a great endorsement that our valued guests are happy with what we are doing.”
James says the attraction to Mt Hutt is the friendly vibe, great customer service and excellent facilities.
“It’s the complete offering in Canterbury. A big mountain with wide groomed slopes, all lift access and top to bottom
terrain parks with world class jumps,” he says.
“It is Canterbury’s playground, but also loved by other Kiwis and our Aussie guests.”
Mt Hutt is a 35-minute drive from Methven village, and approximately 90 minutes from Christchurch.
James says the earlybird passes are an important factor in Mt Hutt’s continued popularity.
“We’ve released them again at the same prices.”
The Mt Hutt Pass giving unlimited skiing and riding next season is again available at the Super Earlybird price of $299
until 31 January 2017.
The 3 Peak earlybird pass has also been released at 2016 prices at $599 valid until 30 March 2017. It provides holders
with unlimited skiing and snowboarding at Coronet Peak, Mt Hutt and The Remarkables for the 2017 season including Night
Skiing at Coronet Peak. The pass also provides holders with discounted access to 14 Mountain Collective resorts around
the world, free skiing at Kiroro in Japan and access to discounts and special offers both on mountain and from NZSki’s
partners in Queenstown.
“It’s one of the many ways we want to say thanks to our awesome guests,” says James.
Voters had to register through the World Ski Awards site or facebook, and were only allowed one vote.
