Earthquake moves Kiwibank staff to Hastings

A warm welcome is being extended to Kiwibank staff who are temporarily relocating to Hastings after access to their building in Wellington was temporarily compromised in last week’s earthquake.

Seventy staff from out of the region will be located short term into the Hastings Kiwibank regional office. Welcome packs are being prepared for them at the Hastings i-SITE.

The relocated staff are working on critical functions to ensure customer needs are meet, said Kiwibank spokesman Bruce Thompson.

Hastings mayor Lawrence Yule said the newcomers would receive a warm Hastings welcome.

“We want to make sure that when they’re not working they can make the most of our beautiful district to relax and recover from the stresses of the earthquakes.”

The visitor packs include details of the region’s cycling trails, maps, invitations to events like Carols in Cornwall Park and the central city night markets, and details of where they can get information if they need it.

“I am sure that all our residents will take the time to make the Kiwibank people feel welcome and help them enjoy their stay,” Mr Yule said.

Mr Thompson said “the event re-enforces Kiwibank’s decision to set up the Hastings regional site in late 2014 that could be used if the Wellington office is out of action. We’re very pleased that we can continue with business as normal from our Hastings premises.”
