Ministry names strategic partner for single EHR business case
Date: 7 November 2016
The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce the selection of an Accenture/MartinJenkins consortium as the strategic partner to support the development of the two-stage business case for the single electronic health record (EHR).
The announcement is being made after a competitive request for proposal process, with eight tenders received and thoroughly evaluated by a joint team of both Ministry and sector representatives. The proposal submitted by the Accenture consortium was considered to offer the best value for money.
“We were impressed with the depth and breadth of the responses – it was clear this is an area where a number of the respondents have niche skills. Accenture consortium’s response demonstrated key skills across the board that will help in developing a robust business case for the single EHR,” says Giles Southwell, Chief Technology and Digital Services Officer, Ministry of Health.
“The team at Accenture and MartinJenkins are looking forward to working jointly with the Ministry to deliver a strong, supported business case for the EHR,” says Leigh Donoghue, Managing Director within Accenture New Zealand’s Health and Public Service business. “This is an important digital health initiative with the potential to significantly improve care for New Zealanders while supporting further health sector innovation.”
Accenture will be working with the Ministry's EHR project team on the indicative business case, which is expected to be presented to Cabinet for approval in early June 2017. Depending on acceptance, the detailed business case to follow will be delivered in late 2017.
