Hospitality Sector Helps New Zealand Charities

Pub Charity Limited is proud to announce its latest funding round distributed $6,325,079.00 to non-commercial and charitable organisations across the country, including the following highlights:

• Starship Foundation $1,000,000 towards refurbishment of two wards of Starship Hospital

• Various Hospices throughout the country received $1,000,000 towards services

• Wellington Zoo $199,000 for its new entrance fence

• Life Education Trust $450,000 towards their goal of providing children with the knowledge to make informed choices about their health, respect others and learn to appreciate their uniqueness

• Asthma and Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand $500,000 towards promoting the best possible health for those with asthma or other respiratory conditions and to support them and their families

• Outward Bound $300,000 towards scholarships to help people access and attend their valuable leadership training courses

• Autism New Zealand $250,000 towards empowering people living with autism

Pub Charity Limited Chief Executive Martin Cheer announced, "This September donations round was the latest in a total of $31,743,094.00 donated to thousands of charitable and non-commercial organisations for the 2015/2016 year. Most pleasing is the range of beneficiaries of this funding, from the very young to the very old and across a broad range of sectors, I think our Directors do a great job of meeting our objective of achieving enduring community benefit.'

CEO of Life Education Trust, John O'Connell said, "Without Pub Charity's support we would struggle to be able to provide our programme in many of the communities across New Zealand. Each year 1,500 schools use us to support their teaching of the health curriculum and assist them with issues such as bullying and cyber safety. While our team of volunteers work hard to minimise our costs, schools couldn't afford to pay the full cost and Pub Charity's support is the difference between 250,000 children a year taking part or not."
