Tunstall talks connected health at the 2016 HiNZ Conference
This year HiNZ is joining forces with Global Telehealth (GT 2016), Successes & Failures in Telehealth (SFT-16) and the NZ Nursing Informatics Conference (NZNIC-16) to bring together four concurrent
conferences in one dynamic week.
Tunstall’s Corporate Development Manager Lisa Capamagian said she is looking forward to attending the conference.
“With four conferences rolled into one, this year HiNZ brings together diverse leaders in the healthcare industry to
discuss the future of digital health,” said Ms Capamagian.
“In the world of digital healthcare there are many areas of focus, and it’s important to ensure we’re putting the
patient first, which is what we aim to do.
“Our focus revolves around connected health - making solutions smarter and customisable to the user as no two cases are completely identical,” she said.
Showcasing the benefits of connected health, Lisa will present on day one of the conference on ‘Using technology to
address connected health needs for CALD patients’.
“Tunstall recognised the need for a culturally and linguistically diverse in-home connected health solution that
included both text and spoken formats for patients,” said Ms Capamagian.
“My presentation will focus on how we accommodated CALD patients within our connected health program, with an overview
of the development process and challenges we faced in creating a multi-lingual system.
"I hope that people find my presentation useful and can apply some of our methodology to develop their own CALD
programs," she said.
Tunstall’s Nurse Manager (Connected Health) Angela Durham is also looking forward to presenting at the conference.
“I will be showcasing the benefits of connected health through a real-life case study, Dallas’ story,” said Ms Durham.
“Dallas is an 85 year old grandmother from Brisbane, who has diabetes and heart failure, with hypertension, dyspnoea and
fatigue.
“Having so many conditions, Dallas found it hard to manage her everyday life, but with Tunstall’s in-home connected
health solution she was able to measure her vital signs and monitor her current condition easily and more closely than
ever.
“This information was also incredibly helpful for her GP, as this continuous data assisted Dallas’ care team to identify
vital sign trends and avoid renal dialysis.
"I hope attendees come away from my presentation with an understanding of our Integrated Care Platform (ICP) and how connected health monitoring can positively impact on patients' lives," she said.
