Philanthropy Summit 2017: Innovate for Impact
May 10-12, 2017
In May 2017 will be New Zealand’s largest gathering of leaders in philanthropy. Held at Te Papa, Philanthropy New
Zealand’s Philanthropy Summit 2017: Innovate for Impact is bringing together global and local thought leaders from philanthropy, business, iwi, government, investment and the
community sector along with innovators for the two-day summit.
The Summit, which attracts an international audience, will focus on global and local examples of innovation in
philanthropy. It will provide opportunities for attendees to learn best practice and hear success stories, first-hand,
around innovation in the sector, from community engagement to investment, advocacy to technology.
The 2017 Summit’s impressive line-up includes keynote speakers Katy Love, Wikimedia Foundation (USA); Allan and Rachel English, English Family Foundation, (AUS); Donna Flavell, Waikato-Tainui (NZ); Judge Carolyn Henwood (NZ), Dai Henwood (NZ) and Naida Glavish, co-chair of her iwi Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whātua (NZ).
Philanthropy New Zealand CEO Liz Gibbs says,
“Innovation plays an increasingly crucial role in the success of communities, organisations and even countries and can
fundamentally shift the impact of philanthropy. The Philanthropy Summit 2017 will inform and inspire leaders in New
Zealand to maximise their impact and learn more about game-changing strategies to improve the future for all our
communities.”

The Philanthropy Summit is a biennial event organised by Philanthropy New Zealand, a member organisation for individuals and organisations involved in philanthropy. Members include private
philanthropists; iwi; family, community and corporate foundations; community trusts along with not-for-profit
organisations.
