Mission Estate Celebrates Gold Medal Trifecta
The team at Mission Estate are raising a glass after winning three gold medals at the recent 2016 Air New Zealand Wine
Awards.
The Air New Zealand Wine Awards is widely regarded as the premier wine competition in New Zealand. Nearly 1,500 wines
were judged by a team of local and international judges to identify medal and trophy winners for each of the varietal
categories.
The gold medal wines are: Mission Reserve Syrah 2015, Mission Jewelstone Syrah 2014 and Mission Reserve Cabernet Franc
2014. In addition, two silver medals were received (full details below).
Peter Holley, CEO of Mission Estate, says: “We’re absolutely thrilled, this is a great result and credit to our wine
making team.”
This latest haul comes during a stellar period of success for New Zealand’s oldest winery with more than a dozen local
and international Gold Medals awarded this calendar year alone.
Peter comments: “These results go to further reinforce our reputation as one of New Zealand’s most accomplished wine
producers. We’re very proud of our rich heritage and winemaking skills and it’s very rewarding to see our passions being
recognized.”
Much of Mission Estate’s success is also down to the experienced winemaker, Paul Mooney and his dedicated wine making
team. Paul was originally mentored by then winemaker Brother John Cuttance, who learnt the art of wine making in
Bordeaux during the 1960s.
