Kim Cattrall says glasses are the ultimate accessory as she launches Specsavers competition
Kim Cattrall, Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominated actress, wore a pair of ELLERY glasses as she launched
Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition 2016.
Kim, no stranger to making a bold fashion statement, wore a leather jacket, pencil skirt and stripes, as she launched
the search with Specsavers for New Zealand’s most stylish glasses wearer.
Together with event MC Kate Rodger, Kim revealed at the intimate lunch event that, “For those that enter the competition
the X factor isn’t just on the outside, but the inside too.”
A proud spec-wearer from the 5th grade, Kim has been styling her look with a chic pair of glasses ever since. “Choosing
my first pair of glasses was the earliest time I can remember selecting an item that reflected my own personality. Not
what my mum chose for me, or something handed down, glasses were my individual style alone.”
Kim also shared with guests at the launch, “Something I definitely learnt from Sex and the City and my role on the show
is that glasses are the ultimate accessory. Through playing my character Samantha, she also taught me to have more
courage every day, and that’s something I’ve taken forward into my other roles too including Davina Jackson in Sensitive
Skin.”
The Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition, presented by Specsavers, now in its sixth year, is a nationwide hunt for
New Zealand’s most stylish and confident spectacle wearer. Kim follows in the footsteps of previous proud spec-wearing
ambassadors – actresses Eva Longoria, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Margot Robbie; style icon Christina Hendricks and
international supermodel Helena Christensen. Kim will this year join fellow judges, fashion designer Alex Perry
celebrity hair and make-up artist, Kath Gould, to decide which New Zealander has turned their glasses into the ultimate
fashion accessory.
Entries to the 2016 Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year are now open with entrants needing to simply upload a spec
selfie to: loveglasses.specsavers.co.nz for a chance to win.
