Women of Influence: Winner of DLA Piper's Board and Management Award
DLA Piper New Zealand is pleased to honour the winner of the Women of Influence Board and Management award section – sponsored by the law firm – announced at the gala dinner on 12 October.
The winner is Helen Robinson, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Organic Initiative. Ms Robinson launched Organic Initiative in 2015. It is now one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing companies. Organic Initiative provides healthy, biodegradable, 100 per cent certified organic cotton hygiene products. Its success to date largely due to Helen’s commercialisation and leadership skills.
The Women of Influence awards 2016 are New Zealand’s recognition of women who contribute to every day kiwi life.
‘The Board and Management award is a comment on much-needed diversity in Boards and Management in New Zealand,’ says Tracey Cross, DLA Piper partner. ‘New Zealand needs women’s representation at every level, including the top.’
“Through this recognition, we believe Helen is helping other women flex their leadership muscle. It’s aspirational for younger women looking upwards at others who have gone before them at the highest levels of management and governance.”
In addition to her role with Organic Initiative, Ms Robinson is currently the chair of N4L, CLOUD M and Valens Group. She sits on the boards of ATEED and Aktive Auckland Sport & Recreation. Prior to her role at Organic Initiative Helen ran ICT companies including: being the CEO of Microsoft NZ, and starting the TZ1 Registry on behalf of NZX.
‘At DLA Piper, we recognise and aspire to promote women to the top levels of law,’ says Ms Cross. ‘Our Leadership Alliance for Women, a global and local programme for women in the legal profession, is designed to help build women as future leaders while also celebrating their current achievements.’
