The Brook Serene Collection of boutique hotel experiences in Christchurch, New Zealand has won three top honours at the 23rd World Travel Awards - Australasia region, presented on October 15 in Vietnam.

The Residence at The George was named Australasia's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2016, and is now nominated as the World's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2016.

For the tenth year, The George has been named New Zealand's Leading Boutique Hotel 2016 in the World Travel Awards.

For the first time after joining the Brook Serene Collection last year, Hotel Montreal has won New Zealand's Leading Hotel Suite 2016 for its Penthouse suite. The five-star hotel’s 26 private suites all have their own balconies. The spacious three-bedroom Penthouse's private balcony boasts all day sun and a barbecue area overlooking Hagley Park.

Managing Director of Brook Serene, Bruce Garrett says the boutique hotel group is helping put New Zealand style on the international map.

“Since 1988 we have worked to establish an unrivalled reputation for excellence. We are delighted to be recognised in these prestigious travel awards, voted for by the world’s travel industry leaders and international media,” he says.

A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, The George has received numerous international accolades in recent years.

The George’s sister hotel in Queenstown, Hulbert House opened in June and is now also a member of Small Luxury Hotels. The six-suite boutique Victorian villa is part of the Brook Serene collection, which as well as Hotel Montreal Christchurch also includes The Regent of Rotorua, an established boutique property in central Rotorua.

The Residence at the George is a gracious house adjoining the hotel with its own well-established, manicured garden. Recently refurbished in keeping with its classic architecture, its stylish dining room, library and cocktail areas all open onto a tranquil outdoor setting overlooking Hagley Park.

“It has been the Christchurch home away from home for numerous world figures and celebrities,” Bruce Garrett says.

Regional award winners, including The Residence at The George, go on to the World Travel Awards to be presented at an international awards gala in the Maldives on 2 December.

“We are asking everyone to take part in the World Travel Awards voting opportunity, and go online to cast a vote for The Residence as the World's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2016,” he says.

Voting registration is open until 24 October, and winners will be announced at a ceremony in the Maldives on 2 December. To vote for The Residence at The George as World's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2016 go to:http://www.worldtravelawards.com/vote
