Mediaworks Appoints Chief Commercial Officer, Maiki Sherman Named Maori Journalist of the Year, Kiss Bang Love Launches on 3NOW & TV3 Wins Friday Night

On Wednesday, MediaWorks announced the appointment of Glen Kyne as the group’s Chief Commercial Officer, formalising his prior position as Acting CCO.

Glen will manage MediaWorks commercial operations including pricing, inventory, a nationwide customer engagement program, and revenue management across the MediaWorks Television, Radio and Digital platforms and brands.

Monday night saw Newshub political reporter Maiki Sherman named Maori Journalist of the Year at Massey University’s Ngā Kupu Ora (celebrating Māori Books and Journalism) Awards for a range of political and current affairs investigations.

Maiki, who is a native Te Reo speaker, joined Newshub at the start of this year. It is the first time the journalist category has been included in the awards – and the first time any award of its kind has been issued.

Monday also marked the launch of Kiss Bang Love exclusively on MediaWorks on-demand platform 3NOW, with the entire series made available for viewing.

Kiss Bang Love features 10 singles who kiss 12 partners, helping them decide who to take on a romantic getaway. As kissing is allegedly the 'perfect tool' to find a partner, the singles use their opportunity to test this hypothesis.

TV3’s Friday night’s comedy line-up was once again a winner, with the channel winning the night in viewers aged 25-54. This result was led by The Graham Norton Show, 7 Days and Funny Girls winning their timeslots in the key 25-54 commercial demographic, as well as viewers aged 18-39.

In the mornings, Paul Henry continued to maintain its position against Breakfast, regularly outperforming its competitor in key commercial demographics on a number of days last week.

Across the week, reality renovation show House Rules has continued to draw Kiwis, winning its timeslot on Sunday night among viewers aged 25-54. Meanwhile Family Feud outperformed The Chase in 25-54 and other key demographics on Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

On radio, the inaugural Camp Edge took place over the weekend at the beautiful Mighty River Domain at Lake Karapiro. One hundred and thirty listeners of New Zealand’s most popular music station were treated to an adults only camp where they took part in a range of activities with The Edge’s nine radio announcers.
