CHAPMAN TRIPP WINS LAW FIRM OF THE YEAR
3 October 2016
Chapman Tripp has won national law firm of the year at the second annual Asialaw Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Awards 2016.
The awards recognise top dispute resolution firms and individuals across the Asia region, with winners announced at an awards ceremony in Hong Kong last week (27 September).
Winners of the Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Awards were decided following extensive research between the period April and August 2016 by Asialaw’s editorial staff. International law firm of the year for dispute resolution went to Herbert Smith Freehills, while the international award for arbitration went to Allen & Overy.

Our litigators include specialists in business acquisitions, securities regulation, competition, property and construction, energy, oil and gas, public law, general contract, intellectual property and employment law.
The team has a strong track record before all levels of the court system including in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and the Privy Council, as well as substantial experience across the full range of dispute resolution mechanisms, including international arbitration, arbitration and mediation.
The firm is the Earthquake Commision’s (EQC) primary legal adviser and advises on all aspects of its statutory natural disaster insurance obligations, including all earthquake-related insurance claims and associated litigation arising from the Canterbury earthquakes.
We have also recently advised: the Motion Picture Association of America in copyright and asset freezing litigation against notorious internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom; Solid Energy’s major bank creditors in High Court proceedings challenging the Deed of Company Arrangement that provides for the orderly sale, realisation and distribution of Solid Energy Group assets over a two and a half year period; and six major Hollywood studios securing ex parte civil search orders, asset freezing orders and interim injunctive relief which took down the world’s largest on-line piracy operation, Popcorn Time.
