Air New Zealand on the hunt for digital interns
More than 50 tertiary students gathered last night to vie for a place in Air New Zealand’s first ever digital internship programme as the airline looks to attract future digital leaders into its business.
Air New Zealand has partnered with Summer of Tech which helps recruit students and graduates for paid internships, attracting more than 180 applications for Air New Zealand’s inaugural summer break programme, which will run from November this year through until February 2017.
The top 50 applicants from universities throughout New Zealand attended a selection event at Air New Zealand’s Auckland head office last night, involving interviews and group exercises. Candidates will now be selected for a diverse range of intern roles ranging from cloud engineer to mobile developer to security solutions and user experience designer.
Air New Zealand Chief Digital Officer Avi Golan says the airline was overwhelmed by the response to its summer internship programme.
“We’re on a journey to become the world’s leading digital airline and hope that the interns will not only learn from us – but we’ll learn from them.
“This is a unique experience for up and coming digital experts to grow, push boundaries and contribute to Air New Zealand’s success,” says Mr Golan.
Air New Zealand has internship opportunities available in the following areas:
• Software Engineering
• Airpoints™
• Information Security
• Digital Marketing
• Data Science & Machine Learning
• Digital Strategy
• User Experience
The Air New Zealand summer internship programme will begin on November 21.
Applications for Summer of Tech have now closed for 2016.
