Farm Environment Trust Appoints New General Manager

Farm Environment Trust Appoints New General Manager

The New Zealand Farm Environment Trust has appointed James Ryan as General Manager, succeeding David Natzke who is stepping down at the end of October.

A former policy manager with DairyNZ,
Mr Ryan brings strong agricultural networks and a track record in advocating for farmers to the Trust which operates the prestigious Ballance Farm Environment Awards. Its work includes connecting farmers with award winners so sustainable farming knowledge can be shared and adopted to benefit the agricultural sector.

NZFE Trust chairman Simon Saunders says Mr Ryan has broad range of skills, including strong strategic thinking and management experience.

“James is an excellent communicator with significant expertise in environmental issues and stakeholder engagement. As a regional policy manager for DairyNZ he represented the interests of dairy farmers to local and central Government and developed a strong network within the agricultural sector. His considerable experience engaging with both farmers and regional councils which will be of great benefit to the Trust and its stakeholders.”

Mr Saunders said Mr Ryan was an admirable successor to Mr Natzke whose leadership took the Awards from small beginnings to the keenly sought after recognition it is today.
Mr Ryan takes up his role in October.
