Games Scholarship on Offer
Unity Technologies and Media Design School to offer
Games Scholarship
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Unity Technologies has partnered with Media Design School to offer one aspiring game developer a scholarship that will provide them with the opportunity to study game development at the number one ranked 3D animation, visual effects and game school in the Asia Pacific region.
The Unity® Games Scholarship is an academic-based scholarship that will contribute $2000 towards the first year of the student’s tuition.
The announcement of the Unity® Games Scholarship comes after Media Design School was confirmed as Unity's first and only Training and Certification Partner in New Zealand, which means that all future graduates of the Bachelor of Creative Technologies and the Bachelor of Software Engineering will graduate as Unity Certified Developers.
Media Design School’s Chief Executive Officer Darryn Melrose says that the introduction of the Unity® Games Scholarship shows that the creative industries are continuing to recognise the quality of Media Design School’s programmes.
“Over 5.5 million registered developers currently utilise the Unity engine. To be able to offer a scholarship with the endorsement of a company as massive as Unity Technologies indicates that the industry is taking notice of the achievements of our Game Development graduates,” says Melrose.
Media Design School’s Game Development Programme Leader Himanshu Khanna says that this partnership will provide instrumental learning tools to students undertaking the School’s Game Art and Game Programming degrees.
“In the last few years, Unity has quickly become the game engine of choice for many game developers because of its ability to work on almost every platform available,”
“Unity is invaluable to students looking for traditional ways to enter the industry as well as those who are experimenting with the cutting edge of technology. We are thrilled that Unity is offering a scholarship to one of our students,” says Khanna.
Submissions for the 2017 Unity® Games Scholarship will be judged by Media Design School’s Academic and Admissions Panel and close on 1 November 2016.
