Spark speeds up the town of Methven with faster 4G mobile coverage
Ski and snow enthusiasts, businesses and residents in the Methven area will be able to do more things in more places with their mobile devices, now that Spark has switched on 4G utilising 700MHz spectrum.
4G technology allows customers to enjoy better access to Spark mobile coverage, making it even easier for people to share, upload, download and stream content such as YouTube videos, Spotify and sport, faster and more reliably than ever before.
Head of South Island for Spark, Paul Deavoll says the improved mobile network will allow locals and visitors to the popular ski destination to stay constantly connected with family, friends and colleagues.
“We’re always looking to improve mobile service across New Zealand and we’re excited that Methven is now able to access the benefits of 4G. Providing better and faster mobile coverage will help people enjoy their recreational sports more – now they can share, upload and stream faster from their mobile devices when they return to the town and finish their day on the slopes” said Mr Deavoll.
Spark’s 4G coverage in Methven utilises the 700MHz radio spectrum, which means customers who have previously experienced slow internet speeds on a fixed line may now be able to sign up to Spark’s Wireless Broadband service.
“4G on the 700MHz spectrum is ideal for rural areas, as the signal can travel further from the cell site than other frequencies. Our Wireless Broadband product uses the 4G mobile network and allows customers fast, reliable and affordable internet access. This is key for people who currently lack access to an adequate fixed internet service” said Mr Deavoll.
