Successful closure of first Fund

Media Release

1st September 2016

*********************************************************************

Genesis Private Equity Ltd announces the successful closure of its first Fund, with $11.875m now available for equity investment into small to medium sized NZ based businesses.

The only South Island based Private Equity firm offering wholesale investors the opportunity to invest in privately owned businesses has already identified over 70 businesses seeking equity investment. Over 80% of those businesses are based in the mainland.

Executive Director Nathan Mills, says “Genesis Private Equity was established last year to enable ‘wholesale’ investors looking for opportunities outside traditional investment classes, to invest into small to medium sized businesses looking for additional capital”.

He says “the background to the opportunities include succession opportunities where existing owners are in transition; high growth businesses looking for equity to fund expansion; and businesses looking to achieve efficiencies by way of industry consolidation”.

Mr. Mills says “whilst we’re industry agnostic, we’re looking for businesses which feature:

• Quality People to work with who are open to outside involvement at a governance level

• A sustainable competitive advantage over their peers

• A track record of performance”

He says “Whilst we’re undertaking Due Diligence on a number of businesses at present, we’re always looking for opportunities to invest in high quality companies”.

Ends.
