Big gains for employment as 2 Cheap Cars expands further
New Zealand’s largest second-hand car retailer 2 Cheap Cars has grown its workforce by 25 per cent in the past year as it opens up new branches and picks up staff from defunct electronics retailer Dick Smith.
2 Cheap Cars will open a new branch in Nelson this coming Saturday (27 August), which will bring the total car retailing network to 16 branches.
2 Cheap Cars CEO Eugene Williams says it is an encouraging rate of growth for the car company and its especially satisfying to see the workforce grow.
“We have further plans for growth, and getting the right people in place is crucial in order to deliver great customer service. We said at the time of Dick Smith going into receivership that we would look to offer jobs to out of work staff where we could. Our new branch manager in Wellington came to us from Dick Smith and he is doing a great job.”
As well as building its branch network up to 16 across the country, 2 Cheap Cars has increased its staff from 60 to 80 employees in the past year.
Adrian Drummond joined 2 Cheap Car after ten years at Dick Smith as a multi-site manager.
“I am very pleased to be with a rapidly growing company. It is a fast paced environment and there is a great culture. The job really suits my previous retail and customer focus so I am happy that it is going so well,” says Mr Drummond.
2 Cheap Cars has continued to grow and is the fastest growing retailer in the country. The company is selling approximately 10,000 cars annually. 2 Cheap Car recently secured a major trade finance arrangement with ASB Bank to enable further expansion.
