Two lucky Kiwi kids
have today won the job of their dreams as official Toy
Testers for The Warehouse.
Ayla Maihi (10) from Papatoetoe and Kyle Calubaquib (6) from Milford in Auckland, have been named as the country’s official Toy Testers for the next year following a nationwide search that attracted more than seven hundred entries.
Upon hearing the news, six year old Kyle couldn’t believe he’d be chosen, and was eager to get started in the role.
“I’m so excited to get new toys each month….and tell other kids how cool they are!” He says.
Ten year old Ayla says, “"I was shocked to learn I had been chosen. I am so excited with this opportunity to experience something new and I am especially looking forward to testing the new toys"
Simon Turner, CEO for The Warehouse says its Toy Tester role had become one of the country’s most sought after.
“It’s clear from the calibre of entries that Kiwi kids take their toys very seriously.
We’re thrilled Ayla and Kyle are on board and we’re looking forward to their unique perspective on what’s cool in toys and games – it can be a great source of inspiration for Kiwi parents who aren’t sure what to buy,” he says.
The official Toy Testers will receive up to $200 worth of toys to review each month and a Huawei Mediapad to record their reviews.
The videos they create will be shared on The Warehouse’s YouTube channel, available for peers, parents and people all over New Zealand and the world to watch.
As well as the monthly toy reviews, the Toy Testers will be involved in The Warehouse Halloween and Christmas festivities, where they will be first to try out all new costumes and decorations before they hit shelves.
The Warehouse runs the Toy Testers competition each year as part of its annual July Toy Sale. Aspiring Toy Testers are invited to apply for the job by submitting a short video clip highlighting their toy testing talents. A panel of judges reviews the hundreds of entries and selects the final two winners.
