bFM Embraces Change
As a bastion of independent broadcasting, 95bFM embraces its pedigree as an incubator for broadcasting talent. We’re no
stranger to operating nimbly within a small budget, so while the big companies are merging, we too are preparing for our
future.
We’ve been reviewing all our operations and today reveal on-air changes that don’t require Commerce Commission approval.
This Friday we farewell Breakfast Hosts Max & Vince. Everything was on the table, however we were unable to reach an agreement for further collaboration. They both
leave with our thanks, not just for 17 months of early starts, but years of contribution to bFM.
This Monday bFM Breakfast passes the baton to Hannah Renwick, current co-host of the 95bFM Top Ten, and BA student at
the University Of Auckland, majoring in English Writing with a minor in Ethnomusicology.
“I’m really excited and privileged for the opportunity to host the Breakfast Show,” says Hannah. “bFM holds so much
magic and passion and Breakfast is a place that holds no creative restrictions.”
Then early in September, current Thursday Drive hosts Jonny & Big Hungry will take over hosting Drive five days a week. “Does our quote need to be funny?” says Big Hungry. “Can we
just say we’re into it or something?”
There is no hiding the fact that recent times are tough on independent broadcasters, but these are exciting appointments
for bFM, reflecting our wide pool of talented contributors and our eye on the future.
“We currently have some of the smartest and most engaged volunteers we’ve had,” says General Manager Hugh Sundae. “Who
together with the staff and wider bFM team have a renewed sense of commitment to making our community thrive.”
