MEDIAWORKS RADIO NUMBER ONE NETWORK NATIONWIDE WITH 2,149,800 LISTENERS
MORE THAN 1.4 MILLION LISTENERS IN BREAKFAST RADIO
MediaWorks Radio is the number one network nationwide, with 2,149,800 listeners tuning in every week across its nine radio brands. In the top 13 major markets, MediaWorks Radio achieved its highest ever figure - growing its total audience to 1,695,000*.
MediaWorks Radio cemented its breakfast domination across the country with 1,449,300 listeners and 51.3%** of the total audience in the critical 6-9am timeslot. Major Market breakfast growth matched this, increasing MediaWorks audience share to 51.4%** and gaining 44,900 new listeners to 1,141,100*.
Across New Zealand, a huge performance in the key commercial demographic of listeners aged 25-54 was also achieved with a network share of 56.3%***, more than 23 percentage points ahead of MediaWorks’ nearest competitor. In total audience across the country, MediaWorks stations have 51.8%** of the audience – more than 14 percentage points ahead of its nearest competitor.
The results also show MediaWorks Radio is number one in both share and total audience in all key commercial demographics: 10+, 18-39, 25-54 and Household Shoppers. In the key commercial demographic of 25-54***, MediaWorks has the most popular four stations nationwide: The Sound, The Rock, More FM and The Edge.
The Edge has retained its position as New Zealand’s most popular station hitting 662,700 listeners, with More FM the second most popular music station, attracting 497,600 listeners.
Paul Henry on RadioLIVE has matched its success on television with growth in Major Market share and audience to a new high of 125,600 listeners per week*, while in Total New Zealand audience, the show attracts 160,000 weekly listeners. In afternoons, Drive with Duncan Garner, grew Major Market share and audience by a staggering 16,300 per week*.
Mai FM is New Zealand’s number one Hip Hop & RnB station, and Auckland’s number one music station** – led by Auckland’s most popular music breakfast, drive and night shows**.
The Sound confirmed its position as the number one station in its target demographic of listeners aged 45-64^ as well as 25-54***.
The Rock, George FM and The Breeze delivered strong results across a number of key demographics, while Magic demonstrated continuous growth.
