award
Longstanding InternetNZ member Keith Davidson was overnight named joint winner of the prestigious ICANN Multistakeholder Ethos Award.
Each year, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) recognises long-standing community members who have served in leadership roles in multiple ICANN working groups or committees.
InternetNZ President Jamie Baddeley extends his congratulations to Keith on behalf of InternetNZ and the local Internet community.
"Keith's recognition as this year's joint Ethos winner is thoroughly well-deserved. It follows his long and distinguished record of contribution to Internet policy issues within the large and complex ICANN ecosystem," says Baddeley.
Over the course of the past two decades, Keith has participated in and chaired countless ICANN working groups, study groups and committees. Throughout, he has maintained a special interest in the management and policies of Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs). Testament to the esteem Keith is held in, he has also been deeply involved with (and has Chaired) APTLD – the association of ccTLD managers for the Asia Pacific region.
Most notably, Keith served on ICANN's ccNSO Council from 2010 to 2016, with five years in the seat as Vice Chair. He also chaired the ccNSO Framework of Interpretation Working Group, which investigated and developed a policy framework for ccTLD delegations and redelegations.
InternetNZ Chief Executive Jordan Carter is thrilled to hear that Keith has won this year's Ethos Award, also offering his congratulations. "It's no accident that Keith has been bestowed with this honour. His long history of engagement in the governance of the Internet speaks volumes.
"The Internet community is deeply indebted to Keith for all that he's done to advance important Internet governance issues, not only internationally, but regionally and domestically," says Carter.
