Hōne McGregor to move on as CEO of Forest & Bird

Hōne McGregor to move on as CEO of Forest & Bird
23 June 2016
Forest & Bird President Andrew Cutler says he has accepted the resignation of the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer Hōne McGregor. Mr McGregor will stay at the helm of Forest & Bird until mid-August.

“Since Hōne took up the position of CEO at Forest & Bird in 2013 he has made a very significant contribution to the development of our organisation.

“Among his many achievements are strong financial performance, helping develop and initiate a new strategic plan, and guiding significant improvements to our business and planning processes.

“With these achievements in place, and with the organisation in a very strong position for the next stage of development, Hōne has decided it is time to start a new chapter with new challenges in his professional career.”

Hōne moves on to continue his work with Wakatu Inc, Kono Foods, the hapu-based wetlands trust Manawatu Kuku Tauaki Ngati Henemata, and his family lands in the Hawke’s Bay and Manawatu regions.

Hōne says “I’ve had the privilege of working with a team of committed and high-performing staff. Forest & Bird is a formidable organisation with a strong strategic direction. Now is a good time for new leadership to take the organisation through the next phase of development.

“Hōne leaves the Society a stronger and more capable organisation, and Forest & Bird’s board and staff wish him all the best in the future,” Mr Cutler says.
