2016 EMA BoP Pitch Night launch
For immediate release: 23 June 2016
The 2016 EMA Bay of Plenty Pitch Night will
launch at the Connect networking event on Wednesday 29
June.
This will be the third Pitch Night held by Rotorua X Charitable Trust and deputy chair Anna Grayling is looking forward to another stellar event.
“Interest has been high for organisations to pitch in previous years. The calibre of judges we secure is amazing and we urge anyone interested in learning more to come along to our next Connect event on the 29 June,” she said.
“We are focused on attracting high quality pitches from across the wider Bay of Plenty, and as part of that we are doing an official launch at our monthly networking event at the end of the month.”
Pitching is an essential part of any business. Whether you are trying to win new customers, attract funding and investment or raise your profile at an event, your overall success is dependent the ability to pitch well.
“A winning pitch defines your organisation’s value proposition and articulates it clearly to win hearts and minds. Ultimately you want your audience to see themselves in the story your telling,” Ms Grayling said.
“Our Pitch Night gives Bay of Plenty organisations a platform to practice their pitch and receive constructive feedback without the high pressure situation. It is also an opportunity for people to learn from other people’s pitches, what’s good and what’s not,” she says.
The Pitch night is for anyone who has an innovative idea for a start-up business or non-profit enterprise, an established company or not for profit.
Only 10 organisations will be accepted to pitch and people interested must apply. Organisations pitching will have five minutes to impress the panel of business experts, as well as the audience.
“This will be a lively and entertaining evening showcasing the entrepreneurs in our region. Audience attendance is free and we encourage the business community to come along and help pick the crowd favourite,” Ms Grayling said.
Prizes are being sourced for the winning pitch and will include business related products or services to help the organisation achieve their goals. Last year the winning organisations shared the $8,000 prize pool of business support services, mentoring and training.
Previous winners of the Rotorua X Pitch Night include Paul Charteris from Tarawera Ultramarathon, Julia Charity from Look After Me and Hielke Oppers from Disabled Diving NZ.
