On 26 - 28 June the Polish delegation will be present at the Fine Food 2016 trade show in Auckland. The group, including the organisers of the campaign, business experts and representatives of companies from the meat industry interested in the export of Polish pork, beef, and cold cuts to the New Zealand market, will be available for talks and B2B meetings at their modern and spacious stand N12.
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Zealand will also be present at the show to answer any questions and offer assistance regarding mutual trade matters. We will be at the stand N08.
Fine Food is a trade event for the foodservice, hospitality and retail industries.
To inaugurate the campaign, a special Congress will be held to talk about co-operation in meat trade between New Zealand and Poland, and further the European Union. The Congress will take place on Friday, 24 JUNE 2016 at the Langham Hotel in Auckland at 11am.
The Congress is addressed to New Zealand representatives of the meat and processing industry, that is to importers, wholesalers, distributors, representatives of industry organisations associated with the import of food, representatives of the HoReCa industry, as well as journalists and opinion leaders. The speakers who confirmed their participation in the event are the Ambassador of Poland to New Zealand, Zbigniew Gniatkowski, and the Economics and Trade Adviser of the European Union Delegation to New Zealand, John Leslie. This event will also provide room for informal talks and strengthening the established contacts.
Rich tradition – rich taste
Poland belongs to the biggest producers of red meat in the European Union. It has a very long and rich tradition of pig breeding. Polish producers were leaders in pig production at the beginning of the 20th century in terms of breeding for bacon. Despite the development of intensive farming, over 80% of domestic pig herds are bred in individual family farms, where they feed on natural fodder, mainly grains. Poland has favourable natural conditions for pig breeding as well as a great potential for beef production.
High quality of Polish red meat has been more and more appreciated not only by EU consumers, but also by consumers from third countries. In the first two months of 2016, exports of Polish pork meat to non-EU countries has increased by 53.5% compared to the same period in 2015.
Polish speciality
Poland has had a long tradition of producing cold cuts and other cured meat products. Excellent quality of Polish cured meat products is manifested by a steady increase in exports.
Kiełbasa – cured sausage, it belongs to specifically Polish specialities. Its production is based mainly on red meat (mostly pork) but there are more and more poultry and beef products on the market. The exceptional taste of Polish kiełbasa is attributed to particular processes involving curing, smoking, drying, steaming, frying or ripening, as well as exceptional composition of spices. Cured sausages differ a lot depending on the region of Poland. Other delicious cold meats produced in Poland include: hams, sirloins, bacon, as well as mouth- watering pâtés. Polish meat products are exceptional for their taste as well as unique aroma.
Modern technologies
Cold cuts and other cured meat products are produced traditionally, according to old recipes, as well as with the use of modern production technologies, packing and portioning methods. The technological lines used as well as multi-century Polish tradition and practice of processing plants make it possible to manufacture variable products featuring exceptional features and tailored to different consumer requirements. New technologies make it possible i.a. to extend the life of cured meat products. It must be underlined that the machinery used for meat processing in Poland belongs to the most modern ones in Europe.
