New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s C.E.O, Mr John Dawson reports that a small offering of 4,400 bales from the South Island saw slight market easing on limited demand and steady currency.

The weighted currency indicator was practically unchanged week on week, 0.1 percent easier.

Mr Dawson advises that 62 percent of the selection sold with some growers setting high selling reserves.

Compared to a similar South Island selection on 2nd June;

Mid Micron Fleece 27.5 to 30.5 microns were nominally 1 to 3 percent easier.

Fine Crossbred Fleece and longer shears 34 to 35 microns were 1 to 2 percent easier.

Coarse Crossbred Full Fleece and Longer Shears were generally 1.5 percent cheaper.

First Lambs were 2.5 to 4.5 percent easier except longer Lambs Fleece 32 micron and finer which were 1 to 2.5 percent dearer.

Coarse Oddments were firm to 4 percent cheaper.

Second Shear wools 2 to 4 inch and shorter when compared to the high volumes on offer from last weeks’ North Island offering on 9th June were 1 percent dearer.

Restricted competition with Australasia, Middle East and Western Europe most active, supported by United Kingdom, India and China sparingly.

Next sale on 23rd June in the North Island comprises approximately 12,800 bales.
