New Mackenzie website captures mobile views
The Mackenzie district’s awe-inspiring landscapes feature in a new mobile-optimised visitor website mackenzienz.com
launched this week.
Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism (CCT) has designed the new website to match the needs of travellers to the South
Island’s fastest growing visitor destination.
CCT General Manager Marketing, Rowan Worner says the Mackenzie district’s popularity is being reflected in online
visitor growth, with many travellers now planning and booking their holidays from their mobile devices.
“Visits to the Mackenzie website grew 16 per cent in the past year, with over 43 per cent of visitors using their mobile
devices, 24 per cent more than the year before.”
She says the new site is easy to navigate on mobile devices and uses big imagery to show off the region’s stunning
landscapes and the friendliness and authenticity of the visitor experience. It follows the unveiling of new branding for
the region late last year.
“The new website captures the open spaces, natural landscapes and the tourism products that take advantage of these
highlights, leaving visitors to the site feeling awe-inspired.”
Mackenzie District Marketing Executive Annabelle Bray says the website launch has come just in time for a busy winter
season, with visitors making the most of Aoraki Mt Cook, Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, Twizel, Fairlie and the surrounding
country for superb star gazing, skiing, adventure and scenery.
“The website is a one-stop shop for information on everything to see and do in our region, with over 170 operator
listings,” she says.
Christchurch digital agency hairyLemon worked with CCT to develop the new website.
