Crowne Plaza Auckland wins at New Zealand Hotel Industry Awards

One of Crowne Plaza Auckland’s senior members of staff has won a prestigious award at the New Zealand Hotel Industry Awards.

Deborah Kennedy was named New Zealand Revenue Manager of the Year at a gala dinner and presentation for the hotel sector’s premier awards in Auckland last night (June 2).

Selected from hundreds of top-performing individuals in hotels around the country, Deborah was one of twenty-three finalists competing for awards across seven individual categories and said she said she was “delighted” with the win.

“It’s lovely to be recognised by my peers in the hotel industry for the work I do, in what is perceived by many to be a behind-the-scenes’ role,” she said.

“It is a role that is vital to the ongoing success of any hotel business, not only in terms of making sure the numbers all add up, but in keeping my finger on the pulse with regards to consumer behaviour, an understanding of where our competitors are at, and any changes in the market.

“It covers so many aspects of the business and certainly keeps our team on their toes!”

Deborah has been revenue manager at Crowne Plaza Auckland for the past six years, having previously held roles in reservations, yield management and guest services with IHG properties across Australia and New Zealand for eight years.

Area Director of Sales and Marketing Franck Hesse acknowledged that the hotel sector had been achieving record results and praised Deborah’s hard work and professionalism.

“She is 100% dedicated to ensuring that Crowne Plaza Auckland achieves its daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets across the board, and we’re thrilled that she has been recognised by the New Zealand hotel industry.

“Without her continued efforts we would not be in a position to continue to deliver the highest standards of excellence and service to all our guests.”
