An exciting new chapter begins for Spectrum Care
Sean Stowers appointed Chief Executive of Spectrum Care
Following a full and exhaustive recruitment process, Spectrum Care’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the
appointment of a new Chief Executive, Sean Stowers.
Sean has been an active contributor to the disability support sector for more than 25 years, in a variety roles
primarily focused on the strategic and operational management of support delivery.
Following 13 years as General Manager of disability support provider IDEA Services, Sean sought a new leadership
opportunity in which he could further his drive for social justice, and outcomes that support choice and control for
people with disabilities.
Finding just such an opportunity at Spectrum Care, Sean’s stated aims include building on the strong, person-centred
foundation upon which the organisation is based, and ensuring people with disabilities and their families have a lead
role in the design and delivery of sustainable support services.
Mr Stowers takes over from Chris Harris, who led the organisation for nearly 10 years and collaborated in myriad sector
initiatives aimed at increasing the quality, consistency and measurability of support services provided to disabled New
Zealanders.
“Spectrum Care is a remarkable organisation and I’ve been proud to occupy the role of Chief Executive over the past nine
years. Over much of this time, I’ve been privileged to know and work with Sean and am certain that his vision,
leadership and commitment to the people we support will have a profound impact on Spectrum and the wider sector.”
Sean commences in his role as Chief Executive on Monday 18 July.
