Vector achieves Rainbow Tick certification
Vector is pleased to announce it has received the Rainbow Tick, a certification given to New Zealand companies that can demonstrate that they understand, value and welcome sexual and gender diversity.
Encouraging and embracing diversity and inclusion is a key part of Vector’s commitment to creating an inspiring workplace.
Vector’s Chairman, Michael Stiassny says the team at Vector understands the value of a workplace culture in which people feel confident sharing their insights, ideas and experiences freely at work each day. Offering our people a safe and inclusive environment will allow us to harness the benefits of diversity, as well as boosting productivity and engagement.
“Being certified with the Rainbow Tick sends a powerful message about the emphasis we place on empowering our people at Vector, which in turn will help to drive innovation and unlock creativity.”
Vector has been working closely with the Rainbow Tick organisation to ensure its commitment to diversity and inclusion is clearly reflected and visible to people across the organisation. As a result, Vector has made some revisions to the language used in some of its policies, including its publically available Diversity & Inclusion Policy and Shareholder Relations Policy, as well as its Parental Leave Policy.
As part of the certification process, Vector formed focus groups involving people across the business to help ensure that its employment and business processes align with the needs of the Rainbow community, which includes those who identify as lesbian, gay, transgender, intersex or questioning.
Michael Stevens, Rainbow Tick Programme Director believes the clear and active support from Vector’s Board of Directors and senior management is to be applauded. He says they clearly appreciate the importance of leadership from the top in building a truly inclusive workplace culture.
Last year, Vector was the proud winner of both the Supreme award and Tomorrow’s Workforce award at Diversity Works NZ (formerly known as the Equal Employment Opportunities Trust) 2015 Diversity Awards.
