Story Investigation into Moko Rangitoheriri’s Death Reaches 492,000 New Zealanders On TV3

Last night’s Story investigation into the death of three-year-old Moko Rangitoheriri captured New Zealand’s attention, with hundreds of thousands of Kiwis watching, discussing or commenting on the harrowing case.

The exclusive interview with Moko’s mother, Nicola Dally-Paki, attracted the highest audience figures to date for Story, with more than 492,000 people hearing the shocking details of Moko's case.

A deeply distressing story, the programme highlighted our continuously poor record of child abuse, gaining significant traction digitally, with thousands of New Zealanders discussing on the story on social media, and tens of thousands of online views of the interview and associated content.

Duncan Garner, co-host of Story and host of RadioLIVE’s Drive, says: “This was a devastating story, but one that needed to be told. It is satisfying to see the audience connect so strongly with the case, and I hope by shining a light on little Moko's death we can affect change and find a solution to this national problem. Our kids are too precious."

Richard Sutherland, MediaWorks’ Acting Chief News Officer, says: “This is powerful storytelling and incredible journalism at its finest, drawing attention to critical issues. I am incredibly proud of the Story team who continue to deliver for an audience who demand the full spectrum of current affairs."
