Gull Brings Lower Fuel Prices to Hawera Motorists
Gull New Zealand has landed in Taranaki, bringing with them lower fuel prices to motorists in the region.
Gull Retail Development and Sustainability Manager, Karl Mischewski, says the company is excited about opening in Hawera this week and looks forward to the arrival of the “Gull Effect” in the region, which until now has seen little competition in fuel prices.
The ‘Gull Effect’ as the NZ Automobile Association (AA) call it, causes a localised price drop across competitors following Gull’s introduction to a new location.
Because Gull stations have low operating costs, they can offer cheaper fuel than their competitors. This forces other fuel chains near Gull stations to drop their prices to match.
“We’re expecting to see the prices of our competitors plummet over the next few weeks thanks to the opening of Gull Hawera.
“Even if motorists don’t buy their petrol from Gull, everyone in Hawera will benefit from lower fuel prices – thanks to the opening of our newest station,” says Mischewski.
Gull Harwera is located on State Highway 3 and is the first Gull petrol station to open in the region. It will offer convenient Drive Through 24/7 pay at pump technology and will provide Regular 91, Gull Force 10 (98) and Diesel, the latter with a high-flow option available.
“We think it’s about time that our competitors take an honest look at what they’ve been charging for fuel in the region and that the regions motorists choose to vote with their dollar at Gull Hawera, showing that they’re no longer happy with being ripped off at the pump,” concludes Mischewski.
Gull Hawera is the first station to open in the Taranaki region with a New Plymouth station set to open later in the year.
Location of Gull Hawera: 256 Waihi Road, SH3, Hawera.
