Young JLL agent has won the UOA Emerging Talend Award

One of JLL’s youngest industrial sales and leasing agents has won the University of Auckland Emerging Talent Award.

Mitch Broderson, 24, was recognised at the Department of Property’s annual awards ceremony on May 10.

The award is given to a recent Bachelor of Property graduate who has had a significant impact on their company and the industry.

Broderson was hired by JLL as a part-time assistant during his final year at university and worked his way up to become an agent once his degree was complete.

Broderson’s abilities were recognised in 2013 when he won the JLL New Zealand Rising Star award and in 2014 when he won JLL New Zealand’s Emerging Talent Award.

JLL nominated Broderson for the University of Auckland award for his communication, leadership and mentoring skills.

“Working as an executive assistant at JLL gave Mitch an excellent insight into what life is like as a 100 percent commission agent. He handled everything that was thrown his way with ease, and is now a permanent member of the team.

“Mitch has shown himself to be an excellent team player, a natural leader and a brilliant agent. Mitch organises and runs our weekly team meetings. He is one of JLL’s ambassadors for the University of Auckland Property Department’s buddy programme,” JLL’s head of industrial Sam Smith says.

“His communication skills are impressive. I admire his ability to relate to everyone from blue collar workers to managing directors.”

A keen sportsman, Mitch is captain of the JLL cricket and touch rugby teams and also plays on the JLL netball team.

He also brokered JLL New Zealand’s industrial team’s largest deal of 2015 for 53,000sqm of land with a total annual rental of approximately $1,108,000.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given at JLL and am proud to have received this award,” Broderson says. “Property is a great industry to get into and I enjoy sharing my experiences with students who are considering it as a career.”
