Meridian and Qantas Frequent Flyer turn lights into flights for Kiwis
10 May, 2016
Meridian Energy has partnered with Qantas to offer its customers free membership to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program and reward new customers with 10,000 Qantas Points - enough to book a one-way Jetstar flight within New Zealand .
Existing Meridian customers can also enter a draw to win one of 10 prizes of 20,000 Qantas Points .
As well as booking Reward flights in New Zealand and to overseas destinations, Qantas Frequent Flyers have thousands of opportunities to use their Qantas Points including redeeming products from the online Qantas Store, and booking car hire or hotel stays.
This partnership follows Qantas Group’s recent expansion within New Zealand, including Jetstar’s new regional services.
Meridian General Manager of Retail Neal Barclay says the new partnership is another example of the company’s approach to working closely with customer-focused businesses while offering another great reason to join Meridian.
“We’re excited to offer customers an opportunity to visit their friends or family or to just take a holiday on us, do some shopping at the Qantas Store or even upgrade a flight,” Mr Barclay said.
“In a competitive electricity market this partnership offers Meridian an opportunity to stand out from the pack and acquire valuable new customers.”
Qantas Loyalty CEO Lesley Grant said the partnership is well-timed with New Zealanders now having the opportunity to earn and redeem Qantas Points on nearly 500 weekly Jetstar domestic flights, as well as an extensive network of international flights with Jetstar, Qantas and Qantas’ partners including American Airlines and Emirates.
“We know our frequent flyers in New Zealand want to use their Qantas Points to fly to a broad range of destinations so whether it’s from Palmerston North to Paris or Wellington to Washington, we’re always looking at new opportunities to help them reach their next Reward flight faster,” Ms Grant said.
“New Zealand has the second largest population of Qantas Frequent Flyers and it’s important for us to keep expanding our range of program partners as we continue to grow our member base.
“The Qantas Frequent Flyer program is all about rewarding our members for the products and services they regularly use. Energy certainly fits into that category, so we’re pleased to be offering members another new way to earn Qantas Points through Meridian.”
