Avoid imminent cyber attacks with Staples Rodway’s report

PRESS RELEASE

6th May 2016

Avoid imminent cyber attacks with Staples Rodway’s new Risk and Threat Analysis report

No matter what type of business you're in, security within your IT system is crucial to maintain your reputation, as John Key announced at New Zealand's first Cybersecurity Summit in Auckland this week. In response to the growing need for New Zealand businesses to improve their cyber security, Staples Rodway Taranaki has launched a new service to first analyse their customer’s current IT system, then make cyber safety improvements.

Key announced that the 2016 Budget would include a $22.2 million investment in a new cybercrime-fighting team, but Rob McEwan, IT Director at Staples Rodway Taranaki felt that something needed to be done immediately to avoid the potential damage faced by many Taranaki businesses.

Rob said: “Our solution produces a comprehensive report within a week, and then our IT team can provide recommendations that are applied immediately. We have already seen a huge rise in cyber attacks over the last few months and it’s not enough just to cross your fingers and hope for the best. Whether you’re a small doctor’s surgery or a large plumbing company, you will hold confidential information for all of your clients that you are obligated to protect. Your reputation is on the line and the risk is growing.”

As well as concerns over system hacks, this report can analyse misuse of the internet by employees and determine if you have enough bandwidth to support your organisational needs, so will give you everything you need to make informed decisions to improve the running of your business.

Rob continued: “What’s great about this service is that it’s incredibly easy to do so won’t affect the running of your business and the cost is extremely low for the huge amount of benefit you get. Our highly experienced IT team will install a firewall demo unit behind your current firewall for a week to enable us to create a risk and threat analysis report. The firewall will collect a set of data which we will analyse to determine your cyber-security risk profile. We will also provide you with recommended actions to harden your IT defences.”

The cost of the report is $150+GST and is also available to non Staples Rodway clients.
