The NZDUSD opens at 0.6880 (mid-rate) this morning.

The NZD is relatively unchanged from yesterday’s open in quiet trading overnight.

U.S. jobless claims posted the largest rise since February last year. Initial Claims for state unemployment benefits increased 17k from 257k, to a seasonally adjusted 274k for the week ended April 30

UK PMI came in at 52.3 slightly worse than the market consensus of 53.6, and worse than the 53.7 last time

The main focus for investors will be tonight’s U.S non-farm payrolls report, with the unemployment rate expected to stay at 5.0%

Global equity markets are mixed: Dow -0.11%, S&P 500 -0.09%, FTSE 0.09%, DAX 0.24%, CAC -0.11%, Nikkei -3.11%, Shanghai +0.22%.

Gold prices are up $1 to $1276 an ounce, WTI Crude Oil is down 0.5% at $44.29 a barrel.
