Contact supportive of measures to increase electric vehicle use in NZ

Contact Energy’s Chief Executive, Dennis Barnes welcomed the government’s announcement of a package of activity to further support the adoption of electric vehicles in New Zealand.

“At Contact, we’re a keen supporter of electric vehicles and other developing energy uses that are valued by our customers”, said Dennis Barnes.

“Through introducing electric vehicles into their own operations, businesses across New Zealand can play a key role in introducing a greater supply and range of vehicles for consumers to choose from in the new and used market over time, and support a lower carbon future for New Zealand.”

“We currently use around 20 plug-in electric vehicles across Contact, with plans to progressively introduce more over time as leases expire, and I encourage other business leaders to consider the role electric vehicles could play in their operations.”

In addition to introducing 20 electric vehicles, Contact has installed 25 charging stations at its sites and is a member of Drive Electric, the incorporated society setup to promote the uptake of electric vehicles in New Zealand.
