New Hub for Business – EMA Opens New Offices

EMA’s new premises were officially opened by the Rt Hon John Key today, following a blessing by Ngati Whatua earlier in the day.

The new office block and conference/training facility is stage two of the development of the Khyber Pass Road site in Auckland.

“Our vision is to develop a business hub, and today marks an important step in that journey,” says Kim Campbell, CEO, EMA.

“We want a place where our members can access services and support to help them grow and succeed.”

The new premises house EMA’s head office staff along with a flexible, modern training facility that can house anywhere from 10 to 200 students, depending on the room configuration.

The EMA has a membership of more than 4000 businesses, from Taupo-north, which represents around 40% of New Zealand’s workforce.

It provides its members with employment relations advice, legal counsel on employment matters, training via more than 100 courses, a wide variety of conferences and events to help businesses grow.

It also advocates on behalf of its members to bring change in areas which can make a difference to the day-to-day operation of its members.

It was formed in 1996, when the then Auckland Manufacturers Association and Auckland Employers Association agreed to merge. At that point the intent of the organisation was to promote the success of business by seeking to create a more desirable environment for business and to add value through representation, knowledge and support – a sentiment which still holds true 20 years later.

The next stage of the development of the business hub, will see the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ), move onto the site. The REINZ has bought the former EMA office building, and is currently renovating it. Once complete, REINZ and Realestate.co.nz will relocate from Parnell to occupy the building, which is expected to be finished by early-2017.
