RITANZ hosts 15th annual Restructuring and Insolvency Conference
International and local keynote speakers to focus on significant issues relating to business restructuring and insolvency
Monday 2 May, Auckland – Restructuring of sovereign debt, business restructuring in China and our dairy industry are some of the topics that will be discussed at a major industry conference in Auckland this week.
The RITANZ (Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround Association of New Zealand) 15th Annual Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency Conference, being held from 4 – 6 May, 2016, will cover latest trends, case law, insolvency practices and provide participants the opportunity to hear from highly regarded international guest speakers.
We are especially privileged to be hosting this year’s guest speakers, says RITANZ Chair, Brendon Gibson.
“Our keynote speaker Lee C. Buchheit is regarded as a global leader in sovereign debt law and has acted for distressed governments for more than 30 years.
“Mr Buchheit advised the Greek government in 2012 and will speak about how he brokered the deal that led to the restructuring of Greek debt.”
Other outstanding speakers include:
• Minister for Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Honourable Paul Goldsmith
• Noted economist, Shamubeel Eaqub and
• Tiffany Wong, Partner at KPMG in Hong Kong, who will address the topic of restructuring in China.
The conference will include a panel discussion on the state of the dairy industry, an insight into the large corporate restructuring world, a presentation on the latest case law and an assessment of the property market.
“We also look forward to delivering an update on RITANZ’s Code of Professional Conduct and our accreditation programme for practitioners, as we continue to provide professional development opportunities to improve and enhance the ethical standards and professional competency of insolvency practitioners in New Zealand,” says Gibson.
The annual RITANZ Gala Dinner will take place on Thursday 5 May, with special guest speaker Kevin Mealamu giving an insight on the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
