Steel & Tube seismic mesh update
Steel & Tube has total confidence in the compliance of its seismic mesh and all product for sale has been through external testing.
CEO Dave Taylor says the Commerce Commission and MBIE have been provided with Steel & Tube’s external testing information, and as expected, the results of that testing show the product made available for sale is fully compliant.
“We’ve also given the Commission an undertaking that we will only sell SE62 500E grade mesh that has passed independent testing.”
Mr Taylor says earlier this month, Steel & Tube made a public call for clarity around testing standards after encountering variability in test results, and significant ambiguity and interpretation.
"Following our public comment of the need for a Government review of the testing standards, we acknowledge the work that MBIE and the industry has done to clarify the ambiguities and different interpretations of the testing standards.
The improved solution that is being worked on will remove any confusion over appropriate testing methodology. That will ensure consistency for all suppliers of mesh.”
