Final call to merchants to upgrade terminals
Final call to merchants to upgrade terminals
Auckland, 29 April, 2016
As the end of April rapidly approaches, Paymark is reminding those few remaining retail merchants to upgrade those EFTPOS terminals still running Version 6.0 software, as it will cease to function from April 30.
Paymark’s network covers more than 100,000 terminals, accounting for more than 75% of New Zealand’s fleet, and for the past few months Paymark has been warning retailers that Version 6.0 of the software has been discontinued.
Paymark’s Chief Operating Officer Chris Wong says most affected merchants have already upgraded their software.
“We’ve been talking to merchants for over a year and most have upgraded their software to later versions. The remainder either have dispensation to remain on Version 6.0 software for a short period of time or will need to update by the end of April or they’ll find they can’t process transactions through the Paymark network.”
Paymark has written to all affected merchants several times over the past year to remind them of the cut-off point.
“The software used by EFTPOS terminals is constantly being improved and upgraded. The decision to switch off older versions of the software is made to ensure terminals have the latest security and processing capability available.”
Wong says merchants who are concerned should contact their terminal provider to discuss the situation or visit the Paymark website for more information:
